Bento #12 - Cherry Blossom Bento
May 20, 2008 by Alice Thorn
Today’s most awesome bento is packed inside S-chan’s huge bento box. Why? It’s a picnic bento~! Because I’m still sifting through my older boxes, this is from early spring. We went to our local arboretum (which is just a fancy word for public gardens) to view and celebrate the cherry blossoms~! They were so beautiful. It was a lot of fun to take a Japanese tradition of a cherry blossom picnic and be able to replicate it here in America. The picnic bento includes (starting on the top left) three pickle slices dried a bit and wrapped in saran wrap to keep the juices away from everything else; cheddar peanut butter crackers and sour cream and chive crackers, some sliced cheddar cheese, two little dessert cups filled with m&m’s (the top one has a piece of strawberry-watermellon gum for me), two reeces peanut butter cups, a few SpongeBob fruit snaks, mandrin oranges lined up so pretty, marshirino cherries, fresh cantalope, green grapes, raw baby carrots and raw brocolli for dipping in the ranch dressing. To keep the ranch in place I covered it with saran wrap after I took the picture. I feel like there are a lot of spelling issues in today’s post… But at any rate, here are a few pictures I took at the gardens.
